Hey there, I’m Dana Mitchell!

I am an art educator based in the DFW area and the sole owner and operator of Spark Haven Studio. Art has been a big influence in my life for as long as I can remember. From my early cartoon-drawing days to learning how to make a pinhole camera out of a granola bar box to visiting galleries and immersive exhibits, I’ve always been fascinated by the things people create.

I have a BFA in Visual Art Studies from the University of North Texas and taught elementary art in the public schools for 8 years.

My passion for teaching art has extended out into Spark Haven Studio: a dream of bringing art experiences to more people. I know what it’s like to compare yourself to others and be intimidated to start. My goal is to make creating feel accessible, fun, and meaningful without any sort of pressure.

If I’m not creating art, you might find me playing board games with my husband, tending to a cozy little virtual farm, hanging out at a cute café, or watching a Korean drama.
